Two children on 3 are economically active in Mali »: That is the result of a national survey on child labor in Mali.The results of the national survey on child labor in Mali, made public at the end of the Council of Ministers of 11 April 2007, have indicated that about 2 children on 3, aged 5 to 17 years, reported having worked free of charge or remuneration. According to the study, from September to November 2005, the phenomenon of child labor in Mali is more marked in rural areas (71%) than in urban areas (63 per cent).
In the 5 to 14 years, 93 per cent of economically active children exercise a work likely to impair their physical or moral and approximately 40 per cent of these children are engaged in the worst forms of work, likely to cause serious harm to their health, safety and morality.
